Centrifugal Filtration & Separation

Centrifugal separation can reduce your volume of waste by up to 85%. That's good for the environment, as well as lowering production costs by reusing liquid or solid processing materials.

Our solid wall basket centrifuges are designed for efficient liquid clarification of even the most abrasive materials, while minimizing wear and tear on the machines. Minimum maintenance is required compared to high speed disc decanter centrifuges.  Centrifuge units are available in both manually cleaned and fully automatic, self-cleaning models.

We specialize in the sale of two phase, solid wall, basket type centrifuges designed for applying centrifugal force to liquids.   The centrifuges are designed to separate suspended solids from liquids without the use of consumable filtration elements.  These powerful centrifuges are designed for:

  • Recycling valuable liquids by removing suspended solids

  • Reclaiming valuable solids from waste liquids

Centrifugal force is applied in excess of 1000 times the force of gravity to assure a high degree of accelerated separation.

How Does It Work?

Manually cleaned centrifuge

Manually cleaned unit

  1. Raw process liquid continuously enters through the feed tube into the spinning bowl. Here centrifugal force is applied.
  2. Solids are separated, collected, and compacted inside the perimeter of the bowl. Once the bowl is filled to capacity, the unit must be shut down for cleaning. The bowl top and liner remove easily for manual cleaning and disposal of the separated solids.
  3. Clarified liquid returns to the source by gravity.

Automatic cleaning cycle.

  1. Process liquid enters the feed tube.
  2. The impeller accelerates and distributes the liquid into the spinning bowl.
  3. Liquid flows up the pool surface of the bowl as the solids separate and collect at the bowl perimeter.
  4. The clarified liquid passes around the efficiency ring and discharges through the bowl hub discharge ports and into the frame collection chamber.
  5. Clarified liquid flows down the drain tubes and into the lower frame drain pan where it exits the discharge fitting at the rear of the machine.
  6. When the bowl fills to capacity with collected solids, the automatic cleaning cycle is activated by an adjustable PLC process controller.
  7. As the cleaning cycle begins, the liquid feed is stopped, and the bowl brakes to a complete stop.
  8. After the free liquid drains, the sludge chute cover is pneumatically opened.
  9. A second pneumatic cylinder engages the plow mechanism's pinion gear into the upper and lower ring gears. The pinion gear counter rotates the plow blades in alternate directions to dislodge the solid material from the bowl.
  10. The removed solids drop through  the discharge chute into a waste receptacle below the machine.
  11. Upon completion of the cleaning cycle, the process timer disengages the plow gear, closes the sludge chute cover, and resumes the process cycle. Typical cleaning cycles take less than 5 minutes.
